This is part 2 of the POW camp Kindles in the Wild, and regretfully I was remiss and did not add another book to the adventure. But in my defense, I had no idea we were going to find a beautiful dam on our way to the POW camp, or that there was a Furnace and the Appalachian Trail Museum all at the same location. Not to mention that there was little to know phone service while we were in the state park area. If we would have had more time, we could have even gone kayaking while we were there. This is a site that I see us heading out to enjoy many times in the future.
We grabbed a quick bite to eat at the little General Store, and look! They even had a mini library! This is a big stop for the trail, so there are campgrounds and hostels and other amenities to take a nice little break on your path, or to spend a week or weekend relaxing with the family.
This really is a must see for those who love the great outdoors, but most of the area is closed now until spring. So, you will have to wait until the thaw out before you pack your bags and grab your hiking boots.
