It seems like our theme this year is day trips. We keep finding these fantastic little places that are not too far from our house and enjoying every moment that we spend there. This time we took a trip to Harpers Ferry and I assure you will be visiting again, maybe for a long weekend. We went with a plan in mind, and reservations even, but in the course of finding that we came across so many other things we wanted to do and see.
This time our journey took us to the River Riders Family Adventure Resort, and we had a fantastic experience. We went there for kayaking, but there is so much more to do. You can camp, go zip lining, white water rafting, tubing and have just a fantastic time with the family. Be warned though, you have to be there at least an hour before your scheduled adventure to check in, watch a safety video, and get bused out to whatever activity you decided on, and if you are doing water sports, you have to be in shoes you are not afraid to get wet as you are required to have shoes securely on your feet and life jackets securely on your body.
We had a wonderfully relaxing couple of hours on the Flatwater side of the Potomac with my sister. The girls and I spent about an hour actually kayaking and then we spent the next hour just hanging out together and chatting while we floated in our kayaks. For us this is part of the experience since we just love anything outside.
So of course, I took advantage of the downtime and finished reading my copy of Say You’re Mine by Sydney Somers. Such a fantastic book and the perfect one to enjoy while floating around soaking up the sun. Especially since I ended up having to ride tandem with Mollee as her neck was hurting her that morning. It made it so much easier to not float away while just hanging out.
You will not want to miss out on a day of adventure with River Riders if you are ever in the Harpers Ferry area, and it goes without saying that I highly recommend the book as a take along for the adventure.
Happy Reading

Say You’re Mine (Spellbound Series book 1)
Published to Amazon on December 27, 2014
Author Sydney Somers
At every turn the mysterious Calder family has meddled in Detective Reece Prescott’s investigations, so it’s no surprise when the gorgeous Violet Calder lands in the middle of his undercover operation—literally. Claiming she’s his girlfriend makes perfect sense at the time. Wishing their fake romance was something more could cost Reece more than just his job. Violet has always insisted on leaving the hands-on private investigating to her siblings, right up until the sinfully hot detective needs her to play along. But the more she pretends to be in love with Reece, the more real the charade becomes. Forced to tread carefully or risk exposing her family’s secrets, Violet fears that not even magic can save her from falling for the one man who could destroy everything. Do you believe in magic
This book is short and sweet and oh so delicious! The author made it fun while still keeping it dangerous and high intensity. I enjoyed the characters, especially the nosey big brothers, and the partner who was willing to embrace her girly side in the effort to help true love. The author did a fantastic job of keeping me intrigued, and the unexpected twists and turns came just at the right time adding to the overall storyline. This is the perfect book for the beach or weekend, and is a definite don’t miss. I’m really looking forward to reading the next book in the series.

A born and raised Maritimer, Sydney Somers fell in love with writing when she finished her first story, Jenny and the Glowing Green Mittens. Thirty novels and novellas later, Sydney is thrilled to spend her days slaying demons, running with shape-shifter packs and making the people in her head fall wildly in love. When she's not writing or curled up with a good book, Sydney can be found chasing after her herd of kids, talking her way into a gourmet meal, exterminating rogue dust bunnies or joking about the pending zombie apocalypse. ** I LOVE hearing from my readers!
