Do you love the gentle giants? The mermaids of the sea? The graceful manatee? Well, we do! So, on our way back to the house we took a little side trip to this fantastic education center. The space is not so big, one might even call it cozy, but there are so many things packed inside for hours of education and enjoyment.
We were hoping to experience kayaking with the manatees, but they had just changed their hours for the off season. Bummer! So instead, we took to the observation deck and looked out over the marina and butterfly garden. But also, no manatees.
Like all creatures of the sea, we were drawn to the edge of the water for a closer look. We found a pretty amazing barrel type sculpture with intricate designs on it, unfortunately the dumpster was strategically placed behind it, so I didn’t get pictures of all of the sides. We spent awhile just enjoying the peace and quite on the dock, but still no manatees. Then just as we were turning away, it happened! A dark shadow under the water, and suddenly a mermaid is beckoning us to frolic in the water. Best Birthday Ever!
And look! I found the best book to accompany me on this little adventure. The characters are fantastic at hiding in plain sight and kept that air of mystery until the very end. I’m actually a little embarrassed to admit how long they hid in my TBR folder.
This was my first experience with this author, and I am now a life-long fan. The story was interesting, and she left me with a HEA while baiting the hook to lure e right into the next book. I can only imagine where she is going to take this series, but I can’t wait to read them and find out.

Author Rachael Slate
He's a Tiger. She's a Rabbit. She'll entrance him. He'll devour her. After a deadly pandemic known as the Red Death devastates the world, Lucy Yeoh flees to the tropical safe haven of Malaysia, straight into the arms of Sheng. Who just might be as delusional as he is sexy. Sheng claims only twelve Chosen warriors of the Chinese Zodiac can restore balance to the world and save humanity, and she's one of them: the Rabbit. Long furry ears and fluffy bunny tail included. Li Sheng leads the Chosen, and that means commanding Lucy's Rabbit to submit to his Tiger. Easier said than done when she undermines his authority at every turn, and seduces him to the limits of his darkest desires. But wait until she makes his Tiger roar... Trancing the Tiger introduces a hot new breed of shifters, set in a post-apocalyptic world where Chosen warriors must battle demonic forces--and the desires of their hearts--to restore the balance of yin and yang before humanity is destroyed forever. If you love dirty-talking alpha heroes, tough heroines who challenge them, exotic cultures, and unique twists on mythology, don't miss out on this scorching hot series.

The secret hides within
This book is absolutely fascinating and nothing like I have read before! The author was able to capture me in the story and I couldn’t put it down until the end, and even then I was reluctant to let it go. The characters are amazing! There are so many layers to their personalities and their relationships with each other, that I wasn’t sure who was going to come out on top. From the very beginning there was so much action and danger, and underneath it all, a love story that warmed my heart. This might be the first book I’ve read by this author, but I assure you, it will not be the last.

USA Today bestselling author Rachael Slate writes sizzling shifter stories where alpha heroes battle the beasts within themselves and sassy heroines would rather leave them wild than tame them. Whether dragons or centaurs, it's always scorching hot romance. When not writing, Rachael can be found in nature, soaking up inspiration, or baking far too many sweet treats in the kitchen. She's obsessed with mythology, travel, and exploring other cultures, including her husband's Chinese-Malaysian heritage, which inspired her Chinese Zodiac Romance series. Rachael Slate resides on the West Coast of Canada in her own little blended world, with her husband, two children, cat, and dog. Her kids have asked for a horse, but that's still up for debate.
